The Journey Part III, A New King Has Arrived

Did you know that King Herod was on a journey of his own around the time that Christ was born?  He was ruling Judah and knew that Jewish prophecy foretold that a great king would come to rescue the people.  OH NO!  A great king that would come to over throw him as ruler...he must begin to hunt down this king that was a threat to his reign.  Can you IMAGINE THIS?  Herod sleepless at night, standing out on his royal balcony...pacing back and forth, worrying when this great king would show his mighty face?  He must increase his army.  He must make sure the troops are ready for a great fight.  He must have spies in and among the people so when the news spread of the arrival of this "Savior", he'd be the first to know and take him out!  Poor Herod.  I almost laugh thinking about the weeks of lost sleep, meals wasted because his stomach was churning with worry.  Little did he know that the Mightiest King was the Tiniest King at this time.  A small, little red infant...sleeping in the feeding trough of an animal.  He was royalty wrapped in rags.  He was completely dependent on his young mother to meet his every need.  He had no army here on earth at his disposal.  This Mighty King chose a completely different strategy than massing His grand army and marching into Jerusalem to overthrow King Herod.  He chose to float in the small womb of a virgin.  He chose to enter the world fully flesh as tiny boy child.  He chose to be one of us.  And those who saw the star and were met by choirs of angels pronouncing His coming, came and saw His Mighty hand as a tiny hand.  Only Abba could have IMAGINED it done this way.  Genius....pure genius.
